Supporting an Exceptional Education for Every Student in Every School

Programs

Science Technology Engineering and Math (S.T.E.M.)

Friends of Renton Schools is pleased to announce a shift in funding priorities to STEM. This new initiative has us partnering with the Renton School District using funding through the “Race to the Top” grant. This allows our school foundation to have an “enhancement on education” focus. After school STEM programs, along with summer science camps continue to increase students’ opportunities outside of the classroom.

Literacy

Battle of the Books is a voluntary reading motivation and comprehension program designed to encourage and recognize students who enjoy reading, to broaden reading interests, to increase reading comprehension, to promote academic excellence, promote cooperative learning and teamwork among students. Students read the designated books, discuss them, quiz each other on the contents, and then compete in teams of four to correctly answer questions based on the books.

Music and Arts

We created "March is Music Month" to assist music programs in the Renton School District. This program opens doors to students by providing them tools to further their education in fine arts. We reach out to the community for used instruments and donations to ensure that these great programs continue in our community. To learn more about how you can contribute to March is Music Month please visit our contact us page.

Teacher Grants

In 2016 and 2017, Friends of Renton Schools has granted over $12,000 to fund teacher classroom grants within the Renton School District.
